Today we bring to you the full testimony of Thao. Thao comes from Vietnam but moved to Finland to attend a master degree Finance in Oulu University. After five months in Slovakia, let’s see what this experience brought to Thao.

What were the main reasons why you decided to use Erasmus+ traineeship opportunity? And why did you decide for Slovakia

I tried to look for an internship in Europe, so I found the website erasmusinter.org and well, Slovakia came as the first result. I saw the program, the job description and the good benefits so I decided to apply.

Can you please name the main responsibilities and tasks while you were on the traineeship?

I’m account analyst trainee in payment and receive team, so I’m responsible mostly for incoming payments for the whole Swiss Re company in Europe and Asia. I’m responsible for a few entities in Swiss Re and also I need to handle some investigations with the bank and different parties to solve the problems with payments.

What were your expectations? Were they met?

Well, before I came here I wanted to work in a multinational company and a system that is well known in business life and get some experience. After my internship, I have to say it was a good investment coming here, I learned a lot of things.

How do you evaluate our programme Placement Slovakia?

The whole process was smooth, but sometimes the communication it wasn’t the best. With me was good, but you should get some improvements in the communication.

Do you have any recommendations, so we can improve our service?

Reply to questions quicker, and not ignore messages.

What would you say is the most significant difference between lifestyle in Slovakia and lifestyle in your home country?

The culture is different between Vietnam and Slovakia; however, I have been living in Finland so the cultural shock didn’t exist. In other end, I enjoyed to live in other European Union country.

What did you find the best about Slovakia?

I rely liked the food in here, me and my friends ate quite frequent Slovak food in a restaurant. People here are also friendly.

Did you get a chance to travel to different places in Slovakia or in neighboring countries?

Yes, of course. Thank of the flexibility of my manager they gave me some day offs to traveller around Europe. Being close to Vienna, allow me to find cheap flights, which allow me to make many trips during my staying in here.

What was the most memorable moment of your stay in Slovakia?

What I liked the most? I just can thing about my company, because they are much friendly and helpful. They gave me full independence in work, which I found impressive.

What are you planning to do after your internship?

Right now I still have my studies goes on, so I will come back to Finland, and I will think after that.

What do you would like to say to a student that is undecided about coming to Slovakia?

If you are not sure, just go for it, you will not regret this opportunity because Slovakia was a lot of multinational companies what allow you to start your career.

We would like to thank Thao for this testimony. We wish you the best luck for your future; :)
