Mr. Benoit Sagot from Emlyon Business School, France - Account Analyst Trainee, Slovakia
Not everyone knows, but gaining experience during student years is the best because you can start working as early as possible. This does not mean that you lose your youth when you can spend time carefree with friends. You can do both! And believe, you will be much happier when you develop, gain experience, earn your first money, have the funds for your desires, and have the opportunity to make gifts to loved ones and friends.
That’s understood by our intern from France - Benoît Sagot. He shared with us about his experience in Slovakia: expressions and thoughts about work and life here. Benoît is a student of Emlyon Business School. Thanks to Placement Slovakia, he found an internship, and was working as an Tax Analyst Assistant at the Slovak branch of a respected global company providing services in reinsurance, insurance and other insurance-based forms of risk transfer.for 6 months.
His Main duties were:
• Process payments to and from clients promptly
• Liaise with internal staff to ensure correct details are held on internal systems
• Liaise with bank representatives to ensure the correct details are held on the bank account
• File bank account documentation
• Handle, or control, balance sheet reconciliation processes associated with Payments & Receipts
• Payments processing, error resolution, and associated reconciliations
• Investigate/resolve queries from staff and external parties (suppliers, banks)
• Reconcile data in relevant systems regularly
Talking about the mentor and colleagues' support he said: “I could ask everyone for some help and working in a team was essential.” And what can be better than good people around you?
Let’s move to life in Slovakia. After living here Benoît shared that: “The culture is different from France but with the same European value. For example the role of the family in Slovakia or the standpoint of immigration.”
The capital of Slovakia is spread over both banks of the Danube. The uniqueness of the location is that, unique among European capitals, Bratislava is located right on the border with two neighboring states - Austria and Hungary. Even one of the streets of Bratislava turns into a street of an Austrian village. Thanks to that Benoit visited some cities in Slovakia, Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. He spent his free time with friends in bars and did a lot of sports. Because of the international environment, he improved his German and English.
When we asked Benoît about his recommendations to new coming trainees he said: “Visit the area but not only the capitals, I was amazed by Tatras”. You can read about our trip to High Tatras here :)
So, what about plans after finishing the internship? “ I had to finish my studies and I will do an exchange and another internship abroad”, - shared with us, Benoît.
From our side, we were glad to have such a good intern as Benoît Sagot. We wish you positive results and high achievements in activities, creative ideas, brilliant thoughts, constant inspiration, and unquenchable enthusiasm.
We will be happy to see you again in Slovakia!
