Jaime Gaton from Spain, a student from Universidad de Valladolid, has secured an internship as a Data Analyst Intern and had one main worry, which most of people have before starting their internship: whether he'd be able to do the job properly.
However, thanks to the well-thought-out onboarding and mentor’s support, that concern faded quickly once he settled into his role.
About work:
As a Data Analyst, Jaime supported the Business Intelligence Manager and Finance Manager on data analytics operations. His tasks included developing ad-hoc deep-dive reports focused on Business Partners and Offering, analysing sales results and forecasts, and consolidating data across sources.
"I have learned how to populate custom reports with data and how to analyse it, giving insights to the business," Jaime shares.
The most valuable part was that his team was supportive and helped whenever there was a need, which is always encouraging for new employees/interns:
"Really good, always there when I have needed it."
What he enjoyed most was being trusted with real responsibility. This opportunity helps to gain a hands-on experience and build a foundation for the future career growth.
"being part of the team in important calls and doing reports that are more complex."
Nevertheless, we all have certain challenges at the beginning of the work. Pierre’s biggest challenge was more about adapting to a new work environment: especially learning unfamiliar terminology and understanding how a multinational company operates.
About Slovakia:
Slovakia is known for its tranquillity and beautiful nature around. Culturally, people are reserved at first, but they are always willing to help and are really warm and friendly once you get to know them better. Jaime was pleasantly surprised by the slow pace of life in Slovakia and the friendly people he met.
"How relaxed the life is here — besides, outside Spain we tend to think that people are more cold, but people are really close here"
He made the most of his free time outdoors — walking in the woods, travelling to the mountains, visiting lakes, and spending time by the river with friends. The community of interns here gives an opportunity to make new friends and meet a lot of people with different backgrounds.
About Placement Slovakia:
"All good, I like the vibe here," Jaime sums up simply.
The most rewarding part of his whole experience, he says, was:
"the people I have met here and the professional experience gained"

Advice for future interns:
Jaime's advice is about stepping outside your comfort zone and getting to new places:
"Go out even alone to explore the city."
About Future Plans:
Jaime isn't rushing to leave Bratislava just yet — his plan is to stay and work in the city for a while longer, building on the experience and connections he's made.
Placement Slovakia team wishes all the best in his further plans!
