Michal from Poland: "Even better than I expected!"
Like many students stepping into their first international internship, Michal had a few concerns going in. He worried the day-to-day tasks might feel repetitive, and that colleagues in a new country might not be so easy to connect with. Those concerns didn't last long.
"Before the internship, I was concerned that the tasks might be boring and that people would not be helpful. It turned out to be completely the opposite, and the experience was even better than I expected."
As a Logistics Trainee, Michal was involved in meaningful, hands-on work from the start. His responsibilities included handling email communication with partners, verifying shipment statuses, preparing documentation, creating reports, and supporting the lost parcels claims process.
"I gained significant new knowledge and skills in logistics and operational management," Michal reflects. "I also developed mentoring skills while preparing a new trainee to take over my responsibilities." — a sign of just how much trust the team placed in him.
For Michal, the people around him were what truly made the internship special. His mentor and manager stood out for their consistent support and guidance — but it was the whole team's atmosphere that left a lasting impression.
The biggest challenge Michal faced was time management — keeping on top of all his responsibilities while planning everything effectively. It's the kind of real-world challenge that makes an internship genuinely valuable, and one he navigated successfully.
Coming from neighbouring Poland, Michal was pleasantly surprised by what Slovakia had to offer. He quickly embraced life there — spending his free time playing badminton, volleyball, and tennis, exploring the city's cafés and cultural spaces and visiting museums. He also made time for trips to Brno and Vienna, and spent time in parks and forests.
"Although Slovakia is quite similar to Poland, I really enjoyed the relaxed pace of life and the friendliness of the people. I also appreciated the wide availability of sports and outdoor activities, even during the winter."
And the undisputed highlight? A trip to the High Tatras with the whole Placement Slovakia— which Michal describes as "the most enjoyable part and a perfect highlight" of his entire Erasmus+ experience.
Looking back, Michal has nothing but warm words for his Placement Slovakia experience — from the company placement and free accommodation to the ongoing support from the team throughout the process.
"I have no complaints and am very grateful for the opportunity provided by the Placement Slovakia programme. The programme, especially by securing excellent company placement and free accommodation, created an unforgettable experience. I truly appreciate the support from your team throughout the process."
And his advice for future interns?
"Trust the people around you, be open, make the most of your time, enjoy the experience, and always keep a positive attitude and smile!"
We are beyond happy that we had a chance to meet you, Michal, and we wish you all the best for the future. <3 Your experience is a great example of what the Placement Slovakia programme is all about — meaningful work, genuine support, and an experience that goes well beyond the office.
