Varun's Erasmus+ traineeship in Slovakia
Last time we shared an interview with Marta, who did her Erasmus+ traineeship in a development company in Trencin. She was not the only one, Varun did his traineeship in the same company as well. Varun is a student of Mechanical engineering in Germany and his field of expertise is CAD design. You can read our interview with him in the following article.
1. How did your story first begin and why did you decide to take an Erasmus+ internship in Slovakia?
I was looking for an opportunity in the field CAD and gain some industrial experience abroad. I found an advertisement from Placement Slovakia that is suitable to me. So I decided to take it.
2. Can you tell what responsibilities the company gave you at work?
I was responsible to a role similar to a mechanical design engineer where I had to deal with ergonomical part design along with assembly in CATIA V6. Later, done an analysis of the designed mechanical component using ANSYS 15.0.
3. What skills did you improve the most during your traineeship?
Safe design of products, assembly, drafting, understanding of 2D and 3D drawings were the skills I have improved during this traineeship.
4. Were there any tasks given to you that you had no idea how to complete? If so, how did you solve it?
Of course, no one is an expert right from the beginning. Experienced supervision of the mentor helped me complete the task.
5. How did you find out about our programme and how would you evaluate our assistance provided during your period here?
Everything was well organised. But the only problem I regularly faced was bad internet connection at my accommodation.
6. What did you like the best here in Slovakia (food, place, cultural aspect, work…whatever you can think of)?
Work culture is the the most admiring aspect according to me.
7. Did you have enough time to travel and explore Slovakia and neighbouring countries? Which places did you visit and what left the biggest impact on you?
Yes, I have visited Vienna and Budapest. Vienna is a beautiful place to visit. I have even visited Croatia.
8. Which moment of your stay in Slovakia has been the most memorable for you?
My room beside the river.
9. What are your future plans after finishing the internship?
Complete my Master's degree and later look for a job.
10. Is there anything you would like to say to students still deciding whether or not to do an internship in Slovakia?
Gaining a practical experience is mandatory through internship and this can help in improving the industrial experience. Place does not matters in few cases when you are particular about experience. The only thing that matters is your satisfactory levels on what you want be at the end of the day.
