Thao from Vietnam, Account Analyst Trainee

We bring to you another interesting story. Let´s read about Thao from Vietnam, who moved to Finland to continue with her study in Oulu University. Here´s what Thao shared from her experience in Slovakia.

Why did you decide to take Erasmus+ traineeship opportunity? And why did you choose Slovakia?

„I tried to look for an internship in Europe, and I found this website erasmusinter.org ,well Slovakia came as the first result. I saw the program, the job description and the good benefits so I decided to apply.“

Did you have any expectations?

„Before I came here, I wanted to work in a multinational company and I wanted to get some experience in system that is well known in business life. After my internship, I have to say it was a good investment coming here, I learned a lot of things.“

What were your main responsibilities and tasks while you were on the traineeship?

„I worked as Account Analyst Trainee in Payment and Receive team, so I was responsible mostly for incoming payments for the whole Swiss Re company in Europe and Asia. I was responsible for a few entities in Swiss Re and also I needed to handle some investigations with the bank and different parties to solve the problems with payments.“

What would you say about Slovakia?

„The culture is different compared to Vietnam, however, I have been living in Finland so I didn´t experienced any cultural shock. In must say, I enjoyed to live in other European Union country. I rely liked the food in here, me and my friends ate quite frequent Slovak food in a restaurants. Also people in Slovakia are very friendly.“

Did you get a chance to travel to different places in Slovakia or in neighboring countries?

„Yes, of course. Thanks to the flexibility of my manager they gave me some day offs to travel around Europe. Being close to Vienna, allowed me to find cheap flights, and I was able to make many trips during my stay in here.“

What was the most memorable moment of your stay in Slovakia?

„What I liked the most? I can only think about my company- they were very friendly and helpful. They gave me full independence in work, which I found impressive.“

Would you like to say anything to other interns that are undecided about coming to Slovakia?

„Just go for it, you will not regret this opportunity because Slovakia has a lot of multinational companies which would help you to start your career.“

Thank you Thao for this testimony. We wish you all the best with your future opportunities :)
